There are two endemic amphibian species in the Pyrenees: the Pyrenean frog (Rana pyrenaica) and the Pyrenean brook salamander (Calotriton asper). Both of them are only found in and close to cold, oxygen rich water. Because of their highly aquatic lifestyle, I photographed both of them in an aquarium (first three pictures). Due to their limited extent of occurrence, fragmented populations and declining habitats the frog and salamander are considered endangered and near threatened respectively by the IUCNphotocrati gallery
