The adult common frogs and toads (Rana temporaria and Bufo bufo respecitively) are already back in their land habitat for a while, but they have left their offspring in the water. These can be observed in big numbers at this time of the year. Last week I saw some swimming in the old channel the Lieve in Lovendegem and I decided to go back with my camera. Below an impression of a lovely afternoon of snorkeling between schools of tadpoles. You can see tadpoles of the Common toad (Bufo bufo) in small, big and huge groups. Many thanks to Amber Baele for the hospitality!

  1. It is amazing how you transform something as common as common toad tadpoles into movie stars. I tried to shoot them once myself, but it is not so easy because they are constantly on the move. Great job!
