In spain you can find some very nice snake species. Most of them belong to the family Colubridae, which is the largest snake family on earth. Besides colubrid snakes, there are also some vipers (family Viperidae) that can be found in Spain. We did however not have the luck to observe these. Below you see a picture of a False Smooth Snake (Macroprotodon cucullatus) in its habitat. This species is endemic to Iberia. Next is a large Horseshoe Whip Snake (Coluber hippocrepis) and the last three pictures show a subadult Ladder Snake (Elaphe scalaris), my personal favourite of the trip!photocrati gallery
